THE RAINY DAY BLUES SOCIETY PRESENTS: Pete Herzog's Blues Odyssey. 

Help us raise funds for our many programs and events while enjoying a unique and exciting evening unlike any other in Eugene. Pete Herzog will perform his original Blues Odyssey, a blues opera featuring 22 original songs that tell the story of a vintage steel guitar. You will be enthralled — and for only $8 for non-members and $6 for card-carrying members. 

Steel Guitar tells a story of a guitar as it is passed from owner to owner, musician to musician, purchased, stolen, won in a card game, passed down through families.  Through its travels its sound is colored in some way by each person and they feel it's history when they play it. The 22 original songs are the glue between the stories about the lives of these characters filled with love, loss, and the pursuit of happiness with a little gamblin and ramblin thrown in.

This performance combines storytelling and original blues/roots music to tell the story of a steel guitar. As the guitar guides you through the lives of it's owners you hear Herzog's songs give a flavor of blues
history. He roughly included musical styles that showcased elements of blues roots and development of different styles.  “I have often thought about vintage instruments I have played and wondered at their
history and if all those who had played them before me had colored their sound in some way,” says Herzog.
